Air Source Heat Pumps

Heat Pumps

It’s no secret how important energy is to households across Scotland. It heats our homes, schools, and businesses and gives us hot water on demand. With energy consumption, however, comes harmful greenhouse gasses that cause damage to our planet. The greatest carbon dioxide emissions come from burning fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas which are used to traditionally provide energy to our households.

The Scottish government have targets to reduce our energy consumption from these damaging resources and aim to have 30% of all energy consumption fueled by renewable energy by 2030. With these figures still nowhere near being met it’s no wonder households are looking for new ways to heat their premises whilst also reaping long-term benefits.

The heating engineers at the Optama are committed to reducing these harmful emissions by educating our customers about the benefits of alternative methods of heating your homes. One way you can work to reduce Co2 emissions in Scotland is to harness one of the planet’s greatest carbon neutral sources available all around us through ground and air sourced energy. Not only does this help save the planet, but it’s also a cheaper option than many traditional heating fuels.

Air Source Heat Pumps

Air source heat pumps are very similar to their ground source cousins, but rather than extracting heat from pipes laid deep in the ground, air is extracted from the surrounding air where it is transferred to water, which is then used to heat radiators, under-floor systems, taps, and hot air systems. The impact of air pumps mirrors that of ground source heat pumps as these also need some electricity to run, though again they are much more preferable as the rate is dramatically reduced in comparison to conventional central heating boilers Glasgow.

Air source heat pumps work similarly to the way in which a fridge draws heat from its inside. What’s more, air pumps can operate in climates as low as -15 degrees C, perfect for the bitter Scottish winters. You will have peace of mind knowing no matter how cold it gets outside, your home will be heated wonderfully, all at a lower price than traditional Glasgow boilers.
